... findings about comets, Venus, Jupiter and other planets, modern scientific dating methods and also the interpretation of myths and legends. An important part of this work is the consideration of the role that catastrophes may have played in ancient history. The SIS also provides a forum for assessment of revised chronologies for ancient history, including those of David Rohl, Peter James, Gunnar Heinsohn and Velikovsky. The proposals covered range from modest adjustments to extreme reductions which would radically redate most of ancient Near Eastern history. The Editor relies on regular feedback by way of contributions for publication. Notes for Authors are available from the Editor. The views expressed in these pages are not necessarily those of ...

... , David Salkeld, who proceeded to cut the ground from under quite a few feet when he demolished the credibility of most scientific dating methods. Bob Porter presented evidence that Egyptian history needs to be shortened and the morning was wound up by our avid Australian chronologist Eric Aitchison revealing the results of his detailed assessment of the Amarna letters. David Rohl kicked off in the afternoon, to be followed by two papers from researchers well known from the Velikovskian scene in America. Unfortunately neither Prof. Lewis Greenberg nor the editor of The Velikovskian, Charles Ginenthal, were able to attend in person so their papers were read by others and we hope questions asked at the time will give rise ...

186. Perilous Planet Earth: Catastrophes and Catastrophism Through the Ages by Trevor Palmer. [Journals] [SIS Review]
... All are treated, uniquely, in an identically thorough manner to the mainstream thread. From there, he examines the controversies over possible Bronze Age catastrophes including, on page 120, a superb summary of the conclusions of Schaeffer. The chapter concludes with a description of how the ideas of Clube and Napier in astronomy and Heinsohn, James, Rohl and Sweeney in ancient history displaced the original theories of Velikovsky even among most of his erstwhile supporters. Chapter 13 treats the proposals about Atlantis in a similar way. The old catastrophists had always argued that mass extinctions and sudden shifts in stratigraphy implied that not all change could be benign and gentle. But how sudden was sudden? 100 ...

From: The Velikovskian Vol 2 No 1 (1994) Home | Issue Contents The Emerging Revision of Ancient History: Recent Research Martin Sieff Was Shishak of the Bible really Thutmose III, as Immanuel Velikovsky claimed? Or was he really Ramses II, as claim Peter James, David Rohl and other proponents of the historical model long pushed by publishers of the British-based Catastrophism and Chronology Review? Did the Exodus occur at the end of the Middle Bronze Age, as they argue and John Bimson argue, and as Velikovsky himself believed? Or did it take place earlier, at the end of the Early Bronze Age, as Donovan Courville, Tom Chetwynd, Stan Vaniger, Emmett ...
