... From: Kronos Vol. I No. 1 (Spring 1975) Home | Issue Contents In Memoriam John V. Myerst Ph.D .( 1916-1974) Photo by Ron Sizemore He liked to kiddingly refer to himself as John the Hermit. But his preference for his solitude was intellectually motivated. Not wishing to be disturbed by the trivia of the mundane world, Dr. Myers chose seclusion in order to actively pursue his scholarly interests-which were manifold. Indeed the last year of his life had been spent in continuous serious research and writing. An imaginative thinker and copious author, Dr. Myers could knowledgeably move from the Judeo-Christian Bible to the Mayan Popol Vuh with equal facility ...

... From: Kronos Vol. X No. 1 (Fall 1984) Home | Issue Contents The Origin of Velikovsky's Comet David Talbott and Ev Cochrane Copyright (c ) 1984 by David Talbott and Ev Cochrane 1. Introduction It has been nearly 35 years since Immanuel Velikovsky published Worlds in Collision, thus provoking one of the great scientific controversies of the twentieth century. In the intervening years, most of the world's leading astronomers have registered their opinions on the subject. Their consensus boils down to this: A) Velikovsky was treated poorly, but B) that is no reason to take his claims seriously. Not so long ago, however, much of the present speculation among ...

... From: Kronos Vol. IX No. 3 (Summer 1984) Home | Issue Contents Apollo of the Wolf, the Mouse and the Serpent Michael G. Theodorakis NAME AND EPITHETS It is generally agreed that Apollo did not always represent the Sun.(1 ) When he gained ascendency in Greece, he did so as an intruder, displacing gods which had been established there before him. Even at Delphi, which was sacred to Apollo, he is seen to replace a series of gods which had formerly been worshipped at the site.(2 ) These facts, along with material presented below, strongly suggest an astral identity for Apollo other than the Sun. According ...

370. Discussion Questions From the Floor [Journals] [Aeon]
... could make any sense of the Revision when applied to the area. In fact, unless someone else knows better, I would conjecture that Velikovsky never tried to publish The Assyrian Conquest because he could not, in his own mind, make his reconstruction work satisfactorily when applied to Assyria/Babylon. For example, in the final issue of KRONOS the doctor's article on Assuruballit seemed very tentative and had no meaningful point to make. The contrast with Gunnar Heinsohn's ringing affirmatives is obvious. I certainly hope that we'll be hearing much more from Pro£ Heinsohn in the future especially since he brought up some points that cannot be left unelaborated, if his thesis is going to be taken ...
