21. Circular Structures In The Kurils [Science Frontiers Website]
... Science Frontiers ONLINE No. 124: Jul-Aug 1999 Issue Contents Other pages Home Page Science Frontiers Online All Issues This Issue Sourcebook Project Sourcebook Subjects Circular Structures In The Kurils Japan and Russia have been wrangling over the Kuril Islands for years. The 56 islands in the group lie between Hokkaido and Kamchatka. With the Cold War over scientists have finally been able to visit these wild, inhospitable bits of real estate. On uninhabited Onekota, a team of American, Japanese, and Russian biologists, led by T. Pietsch, serendipitously came across the undisturbed remains of several large, circular structures. The largest measured 22 meters (72 feet) across the circular embankment ringing a sunken center-- apparently once a large dwelling-- and much like those of the ancient Ainu on Hokkaido. The Ainu, it seems, had colonized the Kurils in bygone days. The implications are far-reaching, for the Ainu were once a seafaring people with Caucasian physiological characteristics. It is only a couple hundred miles from the Kurils to the Aleutians and a foothold on North America ...

... Science Frontiers ONLINE No. 55: Jan-Feb 1988 Issue Contents Other pages Home Page Science Frontiers Online All Issues This Issue Sourcebook Project Sourcebook Subjects Curious sand-filled cavities in the great pyramid "Japanese and French experts are investigating a new mystery at the 4,000-year-old pyramids-- why the pharaohs built geometrical cavities inside the Great Pyramid of Cheops and filled them with mineral-enriched sifted sand..... "From the outside, the pyramid appears to be built of solid blocks of limestone. But two French architects, Gilles Dormion and Jean Patrice Goidin, discovered cavities which could total 15 to 20 per cent of the structure..... "The French team used an instrument which measures differences in gravity to find the internal spaces. They then drilled small holes through the 1.0-metre blocks and found sand-- but not ordinary sand from the nearby desert. "Laboratory tests showed it came from another part of Egypt and was sifted and enriched with minerals before being placed inside the pyramid by the ancient architects." (Fouad, Ashraf; Vancouver ...

23. Giants [Velikovsky Archive Website]
... Giants The traditions of peoples all over the world are quite unanimous in asserting that an an earlier time a race of giants lived on the earth, that most of the race were destroyed in great catastrophes; that they were of cruel nature and were furiously fighting among themselves; that the last of them were exterminated when after a cataclysm a migration of peoples brought the forebears of the peoples of today to their new homelands. The Japanese narrate that when their forefathers after a great catastrophe about two and a half or three thousand years ago, came from the continent and invaded the isles, they found there long-legged, furry giants. These giants were called Ainu. The forefathers of the Japanese were defeated in the first encounter, but in the second encounter they were victorious. Ixtlilxochitl described the wandering of peoples of the western hemisphere in the four ages of the world. The first age came to its end in the Flood. In the second age, called ? the sun of the earthquake,? there lived the generation of the giants, which was ...

... was on Mussolini ? s payroll. When, with the beginning of the war, his position in Syria, a French mandate, became ? insecure,? he escaped to Iraq. There he worked hard and succeeded in bringing Iraq into the war against the Allies, the declaration of war having been made on May 2, 1941. At that time the Nazis ? entered Greece and Egypt. When the revolt was crushed (mainly by the Jewish volunteers from Palestine), the ex-Mufti escaped to Iran and hid himself in the Japanese Embassy there. From Teheran he escaped to Italy, where his arrival was announced by the Fascist radio as a ? great and happy event;? in November, 1941, he arrived in Berlin and was received by Hitler. In 1942 the ex-Mufti organized the Arab Legion that fought the American invasion in Africa (on Apr. 10, 1946, Representative Celler referred to 3,000 members of the Arab Legion that were held prisoners of war at Camp Opelika in Alabama).*** On Dec. 29, ...

In the old religion of Vedic India, the vajrá was the powerful thunderbolt wielded by the storm god Indra in his momentous combat with the dragon Vritra. Such myths, of course, were rife in the ancient world, but what is striking is that Buddhist cultures still worship the lightning today on a massive scale, with entire sects and branches of theory devoted to its study. The above are modern examples of the kongo, the Japanese name of the ...

For the electrical theorists, the contrast also illustrates the crucial distinction between electrical deposition and electrical excavation. In the fall of 2005, the Japanese asteroid probe Hayabusa approached the S-type (silicaceous/stony) asteroid Itokawa (25143), named after the Japanese rocket scientist Hideo Itokawa. Though the probe was unable to complete two planned landings to gather dust samples from the asteroid, it did produce high quality pictures of the asteroid ’ s surface that are now the subject of much debate among astronomers. ... model the charge exchange between bodies in the plasma column of the Saturnian configuration. But I can imagine there might have been differential effects involving radial distance from the axis of the polar column which might act in such a way as to stabilise the planetary alignment. Mars could have oscillated up and down the column, acting like an oscillating charge carrier, between Venus and the Earth.---- HISTORICAL ANALOGY By Duane Vorhees Knowing full well that historical analogy has NO evidentiary value, let me proceed anyway. According to traditional Japanese history, the present imperial dynasty came into being with the accession of the Divine first emperor in "660 BC". His descendants are carefully listed, with their regnal lengths and important events that occurred during their rule. There is an occasional miracle or supernatural occurrence, but in the main the sequence and stories seem credible. Eventually, these emperors and historic events reach a point at which they can be corroborated by Chinese, Korean, or other Japanese sources, at which time we have entered the historic period (as ...

... and hwanung (Hong 1988:60). There may also be a close relationship to the South Korean word for shaman (tangol) and the Turkish word for "heavenly spirit" (tengri) (Mun 1982:18-19). Ha (1969) has also pointed out that gom (kom) is an old Korean word for "king," so wanggom means "king of kings." Gom is also the Korean word for "bear," and may be related to both the Kumaimo tribes and to the Japanese words for bear (kuma) and god (kami) (Hong 1988:60). The Kumaimo were part of the horde of "Eastern Barbarians" referred to by the Chinese. Occupying the area west of the Liaotung peninsula, they were part of a vast cultural area comprising North Asia, Siberia, and Manchuria, where some tribal groups are still bear-totem worshipers. Among their most characteristic artifacts are bronze daggers and mirrors (which, along with their artistic motifs, resemble those of the Ordos in the Siberian steppe ...
