... . The street dust sifts down through the open window onto the case that holds the golden mask. A cleaning-woman absently whisks at it with a pink feather duster. At the coffin from Tomb 55 I pause, examine the rishi patterning - enamelled bud-scales like an imbricated shawl. Did this small casket once hold the body of Akhenaten? David Rohl thinks it did. Tears gather in my eyes. Does a mirror ever forget that it once held the image of something beautiful? ... 747 or 687 BC, so residual Velikovskians will need to search for their Venus event at 1628 and for Mars in 1159. Baillie gives nods of acknowledgement to Mandelkehr, Clube & Napier, MacKie, Hoyle & Wickramasinghe and (for his anthropology, not his chronology) to Heinsohn. I believe the revisionists are wrong because calibrated radiocarbon dates broadly support the conventional Egyptian chronology. For the revisionists to be correct, calibration and dendrochronology would have to be wrong and that ...
