At the end of the Ptolemaic period and at the beginning of the Roman period, the Egyptian year began in late August. This traditional year was divided into three seasons: The first season ( ht) contained the months Thoth, Phaophi, Athyr, and Choiak; the second season (prt) contained the months Tybi, Mechir, Phamenoth, and Pharmuthi; and the third season (smw) contained the months Pachons, Payni, Epeiphi, and Mesore. ... chapter the so-called Sothic cycle was discussed, and dates of the commencement of the successive cycles were suggested. These dates were arrived at by taking the very simplest way of writing a calendar in pre-temple times, and using the calendar inscriptions in the most natural way. The dates for the coincidence of the heliacal rising of Sirius and the 1st Thoth of the vague year at, or near, the solstice, were 270 B.C . 1728 B.C . 3192 B.C . Here, in limine, we meet with a difficulty which, if it cannot be explained, evidently proves that the Egyptians did not construct and use their calendar in the way we have ...

... ! Let us, rather, put ourselves in the place of the old Egyptians, and inquire how, out of the materials they had at hand, a calendar could be constructed in the simplest way. They had the vague year and the Sirius year, so related, as we have seen, that the successive coincidences of the 1st Thoth in both years took place after an interval of 1460 years. Now, for calendar purposes, they wanted not only to know the days of the years, but the years of the cycle. This latter is the only point we need consider here. How were they to do this? The easiest way would be to conceive a ...

The first or "inundation" season contained the months Thoth, Phaophi, Athyr, and Choiak; the second or "growing" season contained the months Tybi, Mechir, Phamenoth, and Pharmuthi; and the third or "harvest" season (called by some the "deficiency" season) contained the months Pachons, Payni, Epiphi, and Mesore. Strange above all that her religion was based on tenor of sudden extinction related to the Flood. And the whole was essentially Celtic. The most important key to Egypt's past is the predominance of the Celtic deity Hermes who in his dual aspect of Thoth taught the Underworld faith and possessed an absolute ascendancy over the minds of the people, and as Ammon. All that has been said previously in regard to the trend of civilization as having emanated from the British Isles points accordingly to Egypt's true source of parentage. In AD 238, this Roman scholar wrote in De Die Natali that the Egyptians had a 365 day calendar without leap year and that on July 20 (12 Calends of August), AD 139, a heliacal rising of Sirius corresponded to 1 Thoth on the Egyptian calendar. Censorinus indicates that the Egyptians had a great year tied to the correspondence of the rising of Sirius with 1 Thoth and that we are today in the hundredth year of this Annus Magnus'. According to most practitioners of Sothic dating this means that Sirius rose on July 20 in AD 139 and on July 19 ...
