71. SIS Study Group Meeting 16th October 1999 [Journals] [SIS Review]
... boat on the shore of the Red Sea, and crossed the desert to arrive in middle Egypt. Arthur Weigal first found the petroglyphs depicting high-prowed boats being dragged across the desert around 1908 in the Eastern desert at Wadi Hammamat, and this may have led Petrie to suggest this route. Dynasty I was started by them after their conquest. Rohl disagrees with Petrie and has them arriving over two centuries earlier to start the Nakada II (Gerzean) culture. In Rohl's chronology this is c. 3050, with Dynasty I starting c. 2781. Emmet Sweeney said he was surprised that Rohl did not, when discussing the Biblical evidence, recognise that both the Bible and Jewish legends ...

... From: SIS Workshop Vol 6 No 2 (Aug 1985) Home | Issue Contents Forum Questions from Lester J. Mitcham: While in broad terms I accept that the general thrust of the proposed David Rohl/Peter James chronology is correct, I am having difficulty with a number of the finer details. The points of most immediate interest are: 1) The Pasenhor genealogy': Pasenhor himself, being the 16th generation, dates from the late reign of Shoshenk V. The 10th generation is given as a king Osorkon, and his queen Mut-udj-ankhes. At this time I can see no reason to challenge the conventional identification of this king as Osorkon II. ... in datings there would have had to have been a world wide conspiracy between many different cultures and religions, so Trevor was now convinced that the conventional chronology of the Christian era was correct. After a break for tea Trevor entertained us with what he termed holiday photographs' of Thera and Akrotiri, taken during a recent history tour with David Rohl. These showed a mural showing people setting out in boats from what appeared to be an estuary and arriving at a port city. This is to be the basis for a forthcoming book from Rohl which will argue that the Minoans were the Hyksos and the mural depicts them being expelled from the Nile Delta. Carrying their dead kings with ...

... Egypt). Shea takes the view that a deteriorating environment in the Negev caused Semites to enter Egypt during the Middle Kingdom (and some of these became the Israelites) where they were employed as house servants etc (see J. J. Bimson also). Shea's chronology tends to abide by biblical numerology, and that of Bimson, Rohl, Sieff, Porter et al., and it may be rewarding to abandon this crutch (but then we would all be at sea again: oh dear!) Israelite history before David and Solomon may partially have been borrowed from elements absorbed into David's kingdom. ... stay in touch with the various revisions must also follow these paths but, like Hansel and Gretel, should keep some markings to allow themselves to make their way back to what they believe is sanity. Velikovsky's radical historical revision was and is the impetus for the new and emerging variations. Heinsohn has a revision, Lasken has a revision, Rohl has a revision; whilst Damien Mackey continues to support the basic Velikovsky line (e .g . Hatshepsut is the Queen of Sheba), new contributors such as Dale Murphie offer another slant on Velikovsky's revision by the more radical realignment of the Manetho Dynastic String. Velikovsky never charted his revisions. We were enthralled as his parallelisms were ...
