101. About the SIS. How to Join [SIS Internet Digest $]
... :1 Home¦ Issue Contents Society for Interdisciplinary Studies a registered charity (Charities Act, 1960)- registration number 286264 About SIS Internet Digest The SIS was founded in 1974 in response to a growing interest in the works of modern catastrophists, notably the highly controversial Dr Immanuel Velikovsky. In his books Worlds in Collision, Earth in Upheaval and Ages in Chaos he argued that the ancient myths and sources such as the Bible contained records of planetary catastrophes in the Earth's history and, based on this, he suggested that geology, cosmology and ancient history should be reconsidered. In cosmology he proposed that electricity played a much larger role than in the orthodox scheme and that Venus in particular was a young planet. In ancient history, he proposed that the orthodox chronology should be severely shortened to eliminate false identifications and fictitious 'dark ages'. Over the years, the SIS has always assessed Velikovsky's contributions in an impartial manner, sometimes critically but generally constructively. In some fields, SIS contributors have developed his work several stages further and the Society's flagship journal Chronology and ...

... : SIS Internet Digest 1996:1 Home¦ Issue Contents Annotated Bibliography for Catastrophism http://pubweb.acns.nwu.edu/~pib/catasbib.htm "This bibliography includes both standard references and some important catastrophist references. I've tried to emphasize the lesser-known catastrophist literature since devotees of Velikovsky often don't realize just how derivative of earlier catastrophists Velikovsky's work really was." Copyright© 1995 by Philip R. Burns. Bellamy, Hans Schindler. Moons, Myths, and Man. Faber and Faber, London, 1936. Bellamy, following the "ice cosmology" of Hoerbiger, suggested that humans had experienced two major catastrophes in the last 50,000 years. The first was the disintegration and impact of the earth's previous moon. The second was the capture of the earth's current moon. Bellamy collated hundreds of myths from all over the world to support his ideas. Velikovsky used a number of these myths in Worlds in Collision. Braghine, Alexander. The Shadow of Atlantis. Dutton, New York, 1940. Braghine collates geological, astronomical, historical, and mythological evidence to ...

Writing eye-opening material in more than one arena, Arp takes on the corruption of good science in academia, government and publishing after giving us great material concerning red shift, the Big Bang, and cosmology. The book Seeing Red can be ordered via the link. Jun 01, 2005 The Pleiades Problem The Hipparcos satellite measures the distance to stars the same way a surveyor measures the distance to your property line. It takes readings from different angles plus the distance of the baseline between the angles, then uses these to calculate how far away the object is. Since its launch in 1989, the Hipparcos satellite has calculated distances to 100,000 stars more accurately than ...

But in an electric universe such events deserve a second look. The comet NEAT was discovered November 2002 by NASA's Near Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) program. As the comet moved toward “perihelion”, its closest approach to the Sun, astronomers were not sure it would survive. The explosive destruction of Comet Linear three years earlier, at nine times NEAT s distance from the Sun, underscored the danger to comets from such a close passage around the Sun. The Sun s glare ...

Willner (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) home pic of the day archive subject index abstract archive Links: Holoscience Electric Cosmos The Universe Plasma Cosmology Society for Interdisciplinary Studies educational resources Aeon Journal May 02, 2005 Plasma Galaxies Laboratory experiments, together with advanced simulation capabilities, have shown that electric forces can efficiently organize spiral galaxies, without resorting to the wild card of gravity-only cosmology --the Black Hole. Many of astronomy's most fundamental mysteries find their resolution in plasma behavior. Why do cosmic bodies spin, asked the distinguished astronomer Fred Hoyle, in summarizing the unanswered questions. Plasma experiments show that rotation is a natural function of interacting electric currents in plasma. Currents can pinch matter together to form rotating stars and galaxies. A good example is the ubiquitous spiral galaxy, a predictable configuration of a cosmic-scale discharge. Computer models of two current filaments interacting in a plasma have, in fact, reproduced fine details of spiral galaxies, where the ...

110. The Prophetic Tradition [SIS Internet Digest $]
... http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/1592/ This Web page is dedicated to the proposition that scripture and myth are authentic accounts of history and that science, religion, and myth can be reconciled within the context of the Prophetic Tradition. The Stele of Narum-Sin. Shamash, Saturn atop his thrown mountain, Venus is to the left The Prophetic Tradition is a system of symbolic types used by the prophets for the transmission of gospel truths, sacred history, and priesthood ordinances. This system is based on the historical cosmology of our universe, particularly the Interdiluvian Saturnian Configuration. The events of the Interdiluvian Period, and more especially those events in the heavens, became the model for symbolic language of the prophets and the scriptures. The Prophetic Tradition serves as a unifying force in gospel typology and can be recognized as a 'fingerprint' of the prophetic message. The events of the Interdiluvian Period and later celestial catastrophes are also the basis of all myth, and sacred literature throughout the world. It will be the premise of this home page, that ...
